OVERVIEW

"Intro to the Twin Cities: Short" is a perfect way to test the waters of Loreways in general. It is very light on needing to use your phone other than directional purposes and short, sporadic informational snippets. No audio or playlists. As bare bones as we get here.

This Loreway is designed for the first time visitor primarily, but out-of-towners in general and full time residents are invited as well. It is a shorter version of the whirlwind activity filled "Weekend" version. We'll be getting just a brief taste of three of the main tourist attractions in the Twin Cities metro. Every attraction is attached to other Loreways with longer, more detailed visits in the In-Depth section of the site. Also, these attractions are differentiated by category: Historical, Natural, and Amusement Center. We'll be getting a small but varied level of activities this afternoon!

"Intro to the Twin Cities: Short" has 5 sections:

Section 1 begins at Mill Ruins Park in the heart of downtown Minneapolis, where we will walk along the shores of the Mighty Mississippi River, basking in the majesty of the city skyline, the history and beauty of the Stone Arch Bridge, all the while circling the origin point of the Twin Cities, St. Anthony Falls.

Section 2 is a transportation chapter. We will seek out the Metro Transit Light Rail to journey out of downtown southeast to the Minnehaha Falls area.

Section 3 encompasses the majestic Minnehaha Falls, a beautiful cascade nestled in the heart of the metro. We'll take in the views, take in some snacks and drink at Sea Salt (a casual seafood restaurant standing sentinel a mere few feet from the falls), and have ourselves a stroll through the woods down the creek to the Mississippi and back.

Section 4 is yet again a transportation chapter. We will use the Light Rail once again to reach . . .

Section 5: the Mall of America! Our biggest and most frequented tourist attraction! Four floors worth of shopping, dining, and a menagerie of amusements ranging from an aquarium to an indoor amusement park! We'll be ending this Loreway with a climactic bang!

So, if you're looking to kill some time before your flight out of Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport (this Loreway is perfect in that regard, as it follows a path that takes you closer and closer and eventually THROUGH the airport!), or if you're a curious new Loreway Traverser in general, why don't you mosey on down to the START POINT:

MILL RUINS PARKING LOT
100 W River Pkwy,
Minneapolis, MN 55401

*Small parking fee if using personal vehicle*
