DAY ONE: FRIDAY
THE MILL CITY
Welcome to the Twin Cities!
And welcome to the ultimate form of the Intro to the Twin Cities experience!! It starts off with a definite bang, guns blazing, feet running and pretty much doesn’t let up until Monday at 1:30pm!
Here we are. A Friday evening in Minneapolis. The possibilities are endless.
This evening’s focus on Mill City involves three filters:
One filter involves traversing the shores of the Mighty Mississippi and diving into the history surrounding the origins of Minneapolis, its once mighty domination on the world’s milling sector, and why the metro became the Twin Cities instead of one city with a surrounding metro.
The second: Partaking in meaningful dining and drinking experiences that harken back to the original Natives who first resided and thrived in the land of

Bdote, the original Dakota name for this area, land of creation and the center of the universe.
And thirdly, the nightlife in Minneapolis will be in full swing tonight! How do the fair North People let loose their inhibitions, relieve the stress of the work week, and gather en masse on any given Friday night?
All of these filters add up to an overlapping venn diagram of Historical Gastronomic Revelry!! We’ll learn a thing or two while basking in recreation, sustenance and relaxation.
Welcome to Minneapolis! This evening is a toast to the city and you!
If you aren’t staying at a hotel, and you drove into the metro, I’d park at:
Portland Avenue Ramp
220 Portland Ave S,
Minneapolis, MN
55401
Then, I’d just walk and take short Uber/Lyft rides tonight. Otherwise, you’ll be stressing out paying for one garage, then another garage, you might be a little buzzed from partying. Get dropped off back at the Portland Avenue Ramp at the end of the night to pick up your car.
SCENARIOS
Depending on what show you’re going to see at First Avenue, you’ll fall into different time frames. The ideal scenario is the 9pm or 9:30pm show, but earlier shows will be taken into account. 9pm or 9:30pm is ideal because it allows you to check-in at your hotel in the 3:00 hour.
